[the video begins; it doesn't seem like the Doctor quite realizes it's a video, though, because it's at a rather interesting angle, looking up at his face from below; the background seems to be the hospital]

Back to all this and suddenly I go quiet. Sorry about that, suppose I just got...caught in the moment. ...Well. Two weeks of moment, but-- Anyway! First thing's first-- Susan! Holding up all right? I don't suppose you've been getting into trouble, have you? Maybe a bit?

...So! It looks as though the old high school clinic is no more, yeah? Brilliant, really, getting that hospital into shape, just brilliant! And power, too! Now that's...just...--

[he trails off there, because as the video shows, one of these little scales has landed on the communicator.]

Well, hullo then! Interesting little thing, aren't you? I don't suppose you can-- oh, and you've got a friend! That's just-- ... Is that another on my head? Really?

[...] How many of you are there, anyway?

[the communicator switches on; to a sound like vworp, vworp, vworp, starting off loud and then cutting off. then there are a few moments of silence before the sound of a door clicking and then creaking open, followed by the crunch of footsteps and what sounds like quick mutterings]

Well! Nighttime, is it -- bit dark, at least. Wasn't entirely what I was expecting, really...really not what I had in mind, and is that--

[There's a pause; the distinct sound of sniffing can be heard]

Snow? --No...no. Smells like sulfur, actually. Then I s'pose that would be-- ...Ash! Thought so! Must be a volcano around here, then-- well. Somewhere. Wherever here is. Have I been here before? ...I can't have-- ...No. No. Really? I haven't got my apocalyptic worlds crossed, have I, this has to be--

[Some scuffling can be heard, and then a 'crunch!' as the communicator is stepped on]

--Blimey, but it is! Well, hullo Discedo, been a while hasn't it! --Well, for me, at least, but time being what it is-- ...Oh, but there'll be plenty of time for that, won't there. Anyway. Volcano! Never a dull moment around here, is there?

Well, now that things have calmed down a bit! Not entirely, I s'pose, but it's a good start. At least a few days without murder and mayhem might do everyone a bit of good, in the end.

Onto other things, yeah? The glorious quest to rebuild and survive -- very brilliant, very human!

I suppose I'd might as well lend a hand, since I seem to be in the same boat. Well. Mostly. Nonetheless, being stuck here is an issue, particularly when the TARDIS seems to be unable to do most anything.

And on that matter, I don't suppose anyone knows how to get in touch with these sneaky scientists? I'd love to have a word with them on that subject.

Ah, time -- funny thing, isn't it?

Plenty of disappearances lately, from the look of it, and speaking of -- has anyone heard from our dear Professor Saxon lately, or has he vanished along with the rest?

It seems as though everything has started up again, so I hope everyone's been keeping relatively safe. Well. Safe as a person can be in a place like this, yeah? If it's not one thing it's another -- killers, ghosts, turning people into animals, monsters, earthquakes, what-have-you. A person can only wonder what'll happen next!

Best for everyone to keep on their toes.

Seems I've neglected this...charming little thing, and as a result it's offered me quite a reminder not to do it again. I might have better appreciated a little note, you know, or at least a request, rather than an electrical shock. Bit demanding you lot are, you scientists.

Never a dull moment though, is there? People turning into animals, being bitten by, er. Lizards. Tangling with the criminally adept. Not to mention the monsters, the constant possibility of riots and murder, what-have-you. Makes a place more interesting, certainly, when you never know if you're walking straight into certain death.

Well! The TARDIS might be a bit, er. Stuck. But it's no excuse for idle hands, eh?

Just. Not so much with running -- might take a few days off from that. And some antiseptic, too.

--terribly unusual, something pulling me out to the middle of...what is this place, anyway? Rubble, barren, no vegetation... Oh, don't tell me we've gone post-apocalyptic! How quaint is that? No, really, really, how many post-apocalyptic worlds do you see these days? What d'you say to that, D--

[there's a long pause, in which the only sound is the wind rushing by. this is followed by some scuffling and then a tap, it sounds like the device was accidentally kicked]

Oh? What's this? ...A communication device! Brilliant! Ah-- on already, I see. Well, hullo there! [there's a soft tapping] S'pose there must be someone out there, at least -- note had to come from somewhere, didn't it? Can't you just imagine, phantom note-passers. S'pose I've seen something like that before, but really, really-- Anyway, I'm a traveler, ended up here on-- ...well. The whim of my ship, it seems. Is there anyone out there that could tell me where I am?

[there's another pause, and then a low growl]

Well, what's this? Hullo! ...Ah. Not friendly, are we? Then this is where I run, I s'pose -- again. Somehow it always ends in running...

[the transmission ends]

((small text is muttered. righto peeps, i'm now counting myself on semi-hiatus since we don't have wireless yet but things have calmed down a little!))

agh, i've only just started playing the doctor, but i'm already nervous that i'm doing it wrong. i am very much not a british genius alien -- in fact, i'm an artist/animator/all-around idiot from the southeast USA. SOOO while i'm trying, i'm sure there are things i can improve on! please, please let me know if i need to fix anything, stop doing anything, start doing anything, whathaveyou. any critique at all is welcome and very very much appreciated!

comments are screened, anon commenting is on. flames won't be accepted, but everything else is awesome! thanks in advance ♥
